Error code4C / 1 4C / nF / 4E
ApplianceWasher
Quick answer
4C, 1 4C, nF and 4E mean the washer is not filling properly. Hoses, valves, drain hose and inlet filters are the checks.
Model compatibility: Samsung reuses codes across series and model years, so 4C / 1 4C / nF / 4E may mean something different on another appliance or generation. Confirm this against your model’s documentation and record your full model number before acting.
Plain language
What this code means
Not filling error: water is not entering the washer correctly.
4C, 1 4C, nF and 4E all mean the same thing on a Samsung washer: a not-filling error, where water is not entering the washer correctly. Samsung lists it for all generations, so the steps below apply broadly.
Checks from Samsung, in order
Start with the supply hoses. Hot should go to the hot inlet and cold to the cold inlet, with no bends or kinks. A missing hot line triggers the error when the washer tries to use hot water, even on cycles labeled Cold. Do not use Flood Safe hoses.
Next, open the water valves completely and leave them open while the washer runs. Then look at the drain hose: it should be seated properly, free of kinks, and go 6 to 8 inches into the drain pipe. Leave the screw on the back that holds the drain hose against the washer; if it was removed, put it and the holder back with any screw that fits. If the holder is missing, service is required.
After that, unplug the washer or flip its breaker for 1 minute, restore power and run a cycle.
Inlet filters
Debris in the water supply gets caught by filters and can block the flow. To look, turn the supply valves off, disconnect the hoses from the back of the washer and check inside the connections. Carefully remove and clean any filters you find, reconnect, and open the valves fully again. If the code continues, request service.
Related codes
If the cold water feels extremely hot, see 4C2, 4E2, CE and nF1, the swapped-hose error. The 4E1 and 4Ed water temperature codes are listed on a different Samsung table.
