Error codedS / dE / dC door error
ApplianceWasher
Quick answer
A group of door codes on Samsung washers means the door is not detected as closed and locked.
Model compatibility: Samsung reuses codes across series and model years, so dS / dE / dC door error may mean something different on another appliance or generation. Confirm this against your model’s documentation and record your full model number before acting.
Plain language
What this code means
Door error: the door is not detected as closed and locked.
On a Samsung washer, the codes dS, d5, FL, LO, L0, dE, dE1, dE2, dC, dC1, dL, 1 dC, 1dC4 and 1dC1 all mean the door is not detected as closed and locked. On some models dC is an unbalanced load error instead, so check your user manual to see which it is for your model.
What to check
Check that the latch is securely fixed, that laundry or other items are not caught in the door, and that the door is closed and secured correctly. If the code cannot be corrected, or the door or latch is damaged, request service.
Notes from Samsung
The code may appear even when no cycle is running if Child Lock is enabled and there is water in the tub. If the door is not closed or Child Lock is not turned off within 30 seconds, the washer drains the tub.
FlexWash washers show 1dC4 if the rubber button next to the upper washer’s latch is missing. Service is not required in that case, and replacing the button fixes the error.
Related codes
An Add Door fault is listed as ddC / dC3. The Child Lock drain message is CL, and dn appears during an update.
